Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find information that might help you understand how to find things or learn about information you might need to know about your city or town.

Block Parent Program

3
  • Some people are concerned initially about the civil liability they might incur because of having offered refuge to someone, but they must remember that the mere posting of a sign in their window does not change their responsibilities at all. If they would have taken in a frightened child before they joined the Block Parent Program, there is no reason why they should hesitate now. Experience shows there will be few incidents of any sort happening to any Block Parent volunteer, since Block Parent Programs tend to deter criminal or disorderly activity in a neighborhood.
    Block Parent Program
  • Of course not. There is no enforcement within the Block Parent plan, so the Block Parent may open, or refuse to open, his / her door to anyone he/she chooses. It is expected that the volunteer will always provide refuge for the very young children, who are the primary objects of the program's protection. However, whether to offer haven to anyone else is entirely up to the conscience and courage of the person whose home it is. The sign in the window does not obligate the homeowner to open his / her door to anyone at all - it merely indicates that he/she is a member of the Block Parent Program and is probably at home.
    Block Parent Program
  • No. The mere display of such signs throughout a neighborhood tends to discourage molesters and other undesirables. A Block Parent may go 10 years or more without participating in a "dramatic rescue" of any kind. By keeping the sign posted, you are letting children in the area know that you are a participant in the Block Parent Program.

  • Yes, the meters are standardized with our Sensus meter reading system and must be able to be read with our radio readout system.
    Municipal Authority - Deduct Meters
  • You must use 3 conductor, 22 gage telephone wire. Your plumber should have an ample supply of this product or should be able to get access to it.

  • Your deduct meter should be located as close as possible to your water meter. It must be located after the water meter and measure only the water used for outside purposes (pool, irrigation, etc.).
    Municipal Authority - Deduct Meters

    Municipal Authority - Deduct Meters

    Common Questions
  • Unfortunately, there are two 1271 Route 30 addresses - one in Beaver County and our address in Allegheny County. When entering the address into GPS, do not use "Clinton" for the city - use "Findlay Township". That should take you to the correct address for our Municipal Building. We are located very close to the intersection of Route 30 / Clinton Road / Washington Road - there is a traffic light and the Clinton Post Office at that intersection. If you're still lost, give us a call at 724-695-0500, we'll get you to our building.
