The Allegheny County Health Department will be distributing raccoon vaccine baits in areas around the County, including the Findlay Township parks areas. These baits are coated with fishmeal so they are tasty to raccoons. Raccoons eat the baits and are protected against rabies. The bait is a block with the vaccine inside. PLEASE NOTE: The vaccine baits ARE NOT hazardous to pets or children, but if found, as an added precaution, handle with gloves and either toss the bait further into the woods or dispose of the bait in the trash. For more information about the baits visit: http://www.achd.net/raccoon For questions or concerns about the baits or vaccines, call 1-800-722-6725. For questions about the baiting process, contact the Allegheny County Health Department at 412-350-4046.
