Single Stream Recycling

Overview

Recycling changes are here!  Back in 2010, Findlay Township began single stream recycling at curbside. The only change since then has been going from recycling bins to wheeled recycling carts. However, back on January 1, 2019 there were some changes to the collection materials and they will continue into 2020. These changes are industry wide and have been adopted by the majority of the haulers that service Western Pennsylvania.

The following items will be collected at curbside:
  • Soft Drink and Beer Cans
  • Catalogs
  • Computer Paper
  • Corrugated  (cardboard)
    • No bigger than 14" x 14" if possible
  • Empty Aerosol Cans
  • Magazines
  • Metal Food Cans
  • Newspapers
  • Plastic (Types 1 and 2)
  • Telephone Books
  • White Office Paper

***PLEASE NOTE:  GLASS AND PLASTICS #3-7 WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED - THESE ITEMS SHOULD BE PLACED IN THE TRASH***

**PLEASE WATCH THIS SPACE AND OUR TRASH/RECYCLING CALENDAR FOR GLASS RECYCLING POP-UPS IN NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES**

Beginning on January 1, 2020, our hauler, Waste Management, will be checking the contents of the recycling containers. If your recycling container contains item(s) that are not acceptable, the entire container will not be collected. If the unacceptable items continue, fines may be assessed by Waste Management.

All acceptable items can be co-mingled in the appropriate recycling container without being separated. Be sure all items are secure in the recycling containers and the lid opens towards the street. Additional recycling carts are available for purchase at the township office for $20 each.
