Because a feral cat exists in a developed neighborhood, should not mean it mustn't be there. The cat is part of our eco system. It does not require any maintenance. It needs to be acceptable for a person to assist it with food, shelter, vet care if needed - as long as TNR is practiced. Some people are care givers & some are not..those who choose not to care should in no way be allowed to injure or relocate a cat (wildlife) from its 'home'. There will always be people who do not properly care for their pets - which leaves the pet to fend for itself. Its more responsible to feed the cat, instead of watching it starve to death due to abuse & neglect. The shelters are overcrowded, people aren't adopting due to costs & not being able to be home with it. The cats don't deserve to die because they were born outside..wouldn't it be nice to have 'shared custody' in the neighborhood? How nice would it be for the cat that can visit old mrs. smith who enjoys the company & companionship of kitty?

I have driven past many unused, broken down places, and I think that we should encourage people to pitch in and help rejuvenate these spots. Maybe help rebuild something new, like a community center for recreation, or something worth going to, and then people could come every week to tend to the place, plants some flowers, mow the lawn, pull some weeds. Just an idea to get the community working together on something we would all benefit from.
