All items can be co-mingled in the appropriate recycling container without being separated (please note exceptions above). Be sure all items are secure in the recycling containers. Additional recycling bins are available for purchase at the Township office for $10.00 each.

**** LATEST TRASH/RECYCLING INFORMATION**** (added March 2011)
The Board of Supervisors advertised for bids for a three (3) year contract to be renewed for Trash and Recycling services for the residents of Findlay Township. The Low bid was from Allied Waste of Carnegie, PA. (formerly BFI Waste Industries). As a result, the Township will be changing haulers, effective April 1, 2011. The Board is pleased to announce that the rates for the service will be less in all three years than the current rate of $14.54 per month for unlimited curbside service.
Here are the rates:
* First Year of the Contract - $13.21 per month ( 10% decrease
from our current rate )
* Second Year of the Contract - $13.47 per month ( 8% decrease
from our current rate )
* Third Year of the Contract - $13.88 per month ( 5% decrease
from our current rate )
UNDER THE NEW SERVICE, REGISTERED SENIOR CITIZENS (AGE 67+) WILL CONTINUE TO RECEIVE THEIR TRASH AND RECYCLING SERVICES FOR FREE!!
In addition, the Township continues to encourage SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING. SIMPLY PUT …. All items that can be recycled can be placed into the recycling container i.e. glass, bi-metals, plastics, newspapers, cardboards, etc.. Since Allied Waste utilizes the GreenStar automated recycling site on Neville Island, they are able to handle our recyclables in a co-mingled way. It is also important to note that the recyclables should not be in plastic bags. Rather, they should be placed directly into the blue/white containers without the plastic bags.
The Township will also be discontinuing our 3rd Saturday newspaper drop-off recycling at the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department parking lot starting this April. Instead, you are encouraged to either bundle your newspapers at curbside with your other recyclables or place the newspaper in your recycling container un-bundled.
COMPACT FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS (CFL)
Much has been written in the media lately on how Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFL's) use up to 75% less energy and last 10 times longer than traditional incandescent light bulbs. Add to that the information that electricity prices in Pennsylvania are set to soar in the coming years, has led many of us to switch from incandescent light bulbs to CFL's.
However, CFL's have mercury content and should not be simply discarded in the trash. It is recommended that CFL's be recycled. At this time, it is our understanding that Home Depot stores are accepting UNBROKEN CFL bulbs for free to be recycled. (take the bulbs to the Customer Service desk). Watch this space for any future recycling sites or news.
